Dumplings

Makes 10 dumplings

3 tbsp. shortening

1 1/2 c. all purpose flour

1 tbsp. dried parsley flakes (optional)

2 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. salt

3/4 c. milk

 Cut shortening into flour, parsley, baking powder, and salt in medium bowl using pastry blender or crisscrossing two knives until mixture looks like fine crumbs. Stir in milk.

 Drop dough by spoonfuls onto hot meat or vegetables in a boiling stew ( don't drop directly into liquid). Cook uncovered for 10 mins. Cover and cook for 10 mins. longer.
